Bar code numbers for products must be entered by HQ in RMS. Even if you add an alias for a product at your store, it does NOT sync to HQ and there is no guarantee it will stay that way for long. Eventually, it will get overwritten with a blank value the next time your store polls item updates. It MUST ALSO be added at the HQ.
How to submit item alias changes to HQ
The Merchandise team prefers that you submit a request using the Merchandise Request Tracker and ask them to add the bar code/alias to the product at HQ. After they update it and your store polls item updates, it will begin to work as expected.
