Has your store lost power? These are some steps you can take to revive your register.
- When the power returns, turn the surface pro on by holding the button on the top left side for 10 seconds
- Look to see if the surface pro it is actively charging.
- An indication that the surface pro is receiving power is a small plug on the left of the battery icon on the lock screen or the task bar.
- If the surface pro is actively charging > look for internet connection > restart the surface pro > login >try to complete a sale to test functionality of the full register
My surface pro is not receiving any power.
If your surface pro does not appear to be charging and the peripheral devices are not working, check the dock. The surface pro will be sitting in a stand that is black or gray. The gray stand serves as a dock, providing power to the surface pro and the connected peripheral devises.
The black stand is not a dock but plugged into the charging port of the surface pro will lead you to the Microsoft dock
- If the surface pro is not receiving any power, trace wire from the circled port to the power source, unplug and plug it back into the outlet, power strip, or surge protector

- Below is a surge protector that you might have. You may also have a power strip. Assure that the device is on, receiving power from the building outlet, and distributing power to the devices plugged into it.
- After reconnecting the doc to the power source disconnect and reconnect the the dock form the surface pro.
- Those with gray docks will pull the handle on the right side, then push it back in. Look for the charging icon to indicate power

- and those with the black dock will disconnect by unplugging what resembles a traditional charger. Plug it back into the surface pro while looking for the charging icon.
- If the battery icon indicates that there is a connection, make sure that the surface pro is connected to the internet, and restart the surface pro and check the functionality of the peripheral devises.
