Setting up new Receipt Printer
In your box you will have received a new receipt printer. For this process you will need three things.
- Star mc Print 2 receipt printer
- USB printer cable
- Power cable
Here is a video you can watch or follow the instructions below
We will start with the old receipt printer
On the back of the old star receipt printer there are three cables. USB printer cable, cash drawer cable, and the power cable. Unplug all three cables from the old receipt printer. The cash drawer cable has a little plastic tab on it be sure to press down and hold the tab to unplug the cable.
*Keep the cash drawer cable accessible. You will need to plug it into the new receipt printer*
Take the usb printer cable and follow that cable. Trace it back to either your register docking station our your USB hub. You may have an Anker USB Hub or a D-link USB hub but once you find the end of that cable you can unplug it and set it aside.
With the power cable do the same process. Trace the cable to your power strip which is likely below the register in your cash wrap. Each counter is different and might have cable management holes that the cable runs through. Just follow the cable till you find the end and unplug it. You can set the power cable aside as its no longer needed
Take your new power cable and plug it into the same port on the power strip that the old cable was plugged into. Again if your counter has cable management holes you will need to pull the power cable up through the cable management holes so that the power cable is at the register.
Now you can take the new receipt printer and plug it in to the power cable. You can also grab the cash drawer cable you set aside and plug that in to the port labeled DK on the receipt printer.
Take your USB printer cable and plug that in to the new receipt printer. You can then plug that into your register docking station or USB Hub. You can plug it into the same port that the old receipt printer was plugged into.
Removing Old Ingenico Credit Card Machine
Here is a video you can watch or you can follow the instructions below
First we are going to remove the old Ingenico credit card machine and stand. The Ingenico has a single cable that comes off the back of the device. You will need to trace that cable. At some point you will find a splitter that connects the power to the USB cable. You can unplug the power cable from the splitter. Keep tracing the usb cable to your docking station or USB hub and unplug it.
Then trace your power cable down through your cable management holes to the power strip and unplug it.
Once your cables are unplugged you will need to remove your ingenico from the stand. To remove it grab the top of the ingenico and pull straight up from the stand and it should release from the plate.
Now all you are left with is the stand. We will need to remove the stand from the counter. In each corner there is a plastic cap that has a screw under it. You will need to pry up the cap with a flathead screwdriver and then remove the screw with a phillips screwdriver.
Now you are left with the metal plate on the counter. Do Not try to pry the plate off your counter. It will damage it. You can leave the metal plate there and we will put the new stand over top of it.
Install Verifone Credit Card Machine
Now it's time to set up the new credit card machine. In your box you have
- Verifone Credit Card Machine
- Ethernet Cable
- Power Cable
- Credit Card Stand
- Credit Card Plate
Here is a video you can watch or you can follow the instructions below
Take the power cable and plug it into your powerstrip below your register. You can plug it into the same port your old ingenico was plugged in too. You will need to feed the power cable up through any cable management holes in your counter to get the power cable to the register. You can then plug the power cable and ethernet cable into the credit card machine. There is a key on the back of the credit card machine that tells you which port to plugin. I have included photos below
You can then plug the ethernet cable to your internet source at the register. Most of you will have a netgear network switch near your register and can plug into that.
You can also plug it directly into your cradlepoint if it's close to your register setup. Some of you might also have your router or modem underneath the counter you can plug into that as well.
If you are unsure where to plug it in you can also trace the ethernet cable on the back of the register docking station to see where it is plugged into your network. Then plug the credit card machine into the same device.
Install Verifone Stand
If your store plans to use the stand you can stick it right over top of the metal plate where the Ingenico used to sit. On the bottom of the new stand there is a sticky pad taped to it.
You will need to remove the blue tape. Then remove the red peel from the sticky pad and place it on top of the metal plate in between each screw hole. Press firmly on it for a few seconds to get a good seal.
Then you can peel the tan peel off the pad and firmly press the base down on top of the sticky pad. Hold it there for a few seconds so it can create a good seal.
Now we can attach the plate and the credit card machine. Flip over the credit card machine and attach the plate by lining up the screws on the plate with the hole on the credit card device.
Once you lined them up push the plate in an upwards motion to lock in the screws to the holes on the back of the credit card machine.
Then you can add the lock screw to prevent it from falling off.
Then you can attach the credit card machine to the stand. If you received a stand that came with a key you might need to twist the key into the unlocked position to attach the credit card machine to the stand. I will include some images below of what each stand looks like.
