The Surface USB4 Dock is a docking station that connects to your Surface Pro via USB-C, allowing you to connect to the network, peripheral devices, and power your computer.
The above image displays the connection types for the docking station, highlighting the docking stations power cable and the connection to your computer.
The front side of the docking station has two ports for connecting a USB device via USB-C and USB-A.
The USB-A port should be used for connecting the register's USB hub. The USB hub provides 7 ports which will be used to connect the register's peripheral devices listed below:
- Keyboard
- Mouse
- Barcode Scanner
- Receipt Printer
- Label Printer (if not connected directly to network)
- Desktop Printer (if not connected directly to network)
The USB-C port can be used to connect the Inventory iPhone for power and charging.
The image above highlights the Ethernet and Power Cable connections on the back of the docking station.
The USB-C port labeled for power needs to be connected to the power cord for the docking station to function. The docking station will not function if the power cable is plugged into either of the two other USB-C ports. When the docking station is plugged into the computer, and powered on, a white light will show.
The ethernet cable can be plugged into the Ethernet Connection port to connect the device to the network if the computer is not using a wifi connection.
